Leaf insects use camouflage to take on the appearance of a leaf. They do this so accurately that predators often aren't able to distinguish them from real leaves. To further confuse predators, when the leaf insect walks, it rocks back and forth, to mimic a real leaf being blown by the wind.
The Leaf Insect Copper Metal Sculpture is made from recycled copper sheet and wire. It is 7 1/2" long x 6 3/4" wide x 1 1/2" high. The finish is a green dye oxide with an exterior lacquer top coat suitable for outdoor use. A ring on the under side allows for wall mounting. Placed on a flat surface, the piece can be viewed horizontally. Signed by the artist. Handmade in America.
