OOAK Ye'ail the Wyvern Copper and Brass Sculpture Metal Sculpture

Wyverns are classified under semi dragons, halfway between dragons and serpents. They are a legendary winged creature with two legs and a barbed tail. Some crypto zoologists believe they are surviving pterodactyls ( from the Greek meaning "winged finger") which were extinct 65 million years ago.

Ye'ail measures 37 inches high, 20 inches deep, with a 40 inch wingspan. Handmade from recycled copper and brass, this is an assemblage. The head, arms, legs and barbed tail are made from 20 oz copper sheet. The tail is made from copper tube. The wings ,hammered with a ball peen hammer on a sandbag. and scales are 16 0z. copper sheet. The claws on the wings are brass rod. The breast plates are 1/16" brass sheet . The teeth are made from stainless steel sheet metal. Glaring from the beast head are two painted glass taxidermy eyes. Brazed construction. There is no finish on the metal, so if left outdoors he will patina naturally.

The base is a rough hewn block of granite, with two 3/8 inch diameter holes drlled in it. The dragon has a 3/8 inch diameter copper rod armature that extends through the bottom of bottom of the beast. Insert it in either hole of the base to achive desired look.
